A thousand splendid suns - First blog post
A thousand splendid suns is a novel by the famus author Khaled Hosseini who also wrote the famous bestselling book The kite runner. It's about the Afghan history but also about family, friendship and love. I don't know what the title A thousand splendid suns means because so far there are no signs of what It can mean, I think it comes later or in the very end of the book.
Hosseini begins the story in a quet interesting way, right away you are thrown into one of the caracters old memories and thougths. Because Mariam (who is the caracter) tells about her personal memories, you almost get to know her directly. It's a very thick book and before I started to read it I had a feeling that It would be boring and hard to get in to but the beginning gives you a feeling of love and hope so It got me quite interested.
The feeling that I have over the book so far is that it's a really sad and realistic book over how it acctually is in some countries in the world. I'm only at page 84 but I have already felt frustation over some situations, It really brings up thougths .
