"The Kite Runner" Blog 3
The environment in the kite runner takes place for the most part in Afghanistan and right so much of in the USA. The environment is very dry and strong boring colours. One can even imagine how it smells in some instances when he tells in detail for example when Amir should have a birthday party so he will have lamb kebab and then you can feel the smell of grilled lamb kebab. Another example is when he comes back and he asked the driver what is that smell and then tells the driver that it is the diesel smell and when one feels the smell of Diesel. It happens a shift in the book when Amir and his father move to America, it becomes somehow more cheerful colours and more peaceful.
I feel that the environment is important in the story because it is about an Afghan boy who lives in Afghanistan, tells how he lived when he was a child and that his life changed when he was a child and then you can not have an environment that is unlike an Afghan environment where you do not get the same feeling how Amir had it when he was a child. I do not think you can change the environment to another then destroys the whole story because the environment is an important part of the story, the environment causes the readers understand more of the action and then you can not have a totally different environment then becomes the book is not nearly as good as it does not associate with the story.
