Third blog post - The exorcist
The book plays out in a part of Washington, Georgetown to be more accurate. Where Chris MacNiel and her daughter Regan has rented a house. The main bulk of the story and where the story progress is in their house. The environment in the house in described very detailed. Especially in Regan's room where the smells, the temperature and feelings constantly change. Blatty did a very good job here since the book would not have been the same if he did not do it as well. It plays a huge role, for example, how scary would it be if the floor suddenly didn't get cold and a foul stench filled the room? You get drawn in to the book since you kind off draw the room in your head while you read. It just makes the entire reading experience so immersive and interesting and I think it's the main reason to why it is so popular.
