A thousand splendid suns - Fifth blog post
For me the turning point in this book is when Mariam had to marry Rasheed because it's from that point the story actually gets a line that it's followed to the solution when Mariam murders her husband Rasheed.
After this the women gets to meet two difference destinies. Mariam tried to explain for the judges that it was self-defence but but they didn't believe her so they sentenced her death. For Laila everything works out pretty well, she marry her old friend Tariq that she had been in loved with all the time and with him she move to Pakistan to start a new life.
I actually can't image any better solution in this book, it's sadly and very heartbreaking but it's also a little happy because Laila get's the man she always wanted. When I think about the fact that it actually is like this in some parts of the world i feel really sorry for the women because I think that every one should have the right to be as the they want to be. No one should decide over who you should be. Finally I have to say what I've had said in the earlier blogs, Hosseini is so good at making you feel the women's pain and lack of lust for life that the feelings get's in to your bare skin.
